LDF Country Market Construction Getting Local News Coverage
Before the holiday season this past month WJFW published a story about the great progress made on our new retail center: From the story…
After Lac du Flambeau tribal members broke ground on a new retail center this summer, the project has quickly come a long way. Construction is set to finish in June 2020, but it could be done sooner if the project stays ahead of schedule
Since the project began in August, the walls have gone up, the floors have been laid and insulation has been installed. Heating and air conditioning units have also been installed on the ceiling.
LDF Construction President Randy Soulier says the retail center will solve a big a community need by combining the old Country Market, gas station and smoke shop.
“This will bring them all together, plus it will expand not only what we have in the grocery with fresh produce and meat but also at the deli too,” said Soulier. “We’ve covered a lot of areas that the community has needed for quite some time.”
Soulier added that employees will be able to sign their names on an exposed beam once the project is complete.
“When folks come in for years to come they’ll see a nice welcome from our community, welcome to our store.”
The total price tag on the project is $3.3 million dollars. Once complete, the tribe will knock down the old market and gas station. Next steps include building out the shipping and receiving center.
